The "I Played This Level" Thread

Post by Foo »

Most of us mappers are familiar with the following problem: You make a map but noone plays it!

Well usually people do play your level - you just don't get to see it happen. This thread is gonna change that. Post demos of games you play on custom levels, be it against bots or (zOMG!) real peoples.

If the mapper who made the level doesn't post here, how about firing him off a quick email too?

I'll go first. Just uploading the demos now.

Tourney, 15 min timelimit. Played it on our LAN just now to pass some time. The layout is very confusing at first, but works out well with good fights over the armors and MH. Looks pretty sweet too.

Demos from both players POV are available here (clixor me!)

The map is part of the Turtlemap 4 Map Pack, available here (clixor me!)

Ive played many hundreds of customs maps on my fav custom map server, but unfortunately I have deleted all of my old demos. Its a shame, because we have played so many maps, and most of the mappers are probably completely unaware that their work has been played on a server with real people, and thoroughly enjoyed.

Ill try to dig some up some demos or screens.

Tourney, 15 min timelimit. Despite a few annoying low ceilings and invisible doors, this worked out nice for simple tourney games.

If the files are meant to be available semi-perminantly then use http://www.pcgamemods.com - Free with no need to set up an account.

I can't believe anyone would want that :D

I've been meaning to get around to restructuring the flow around the central area so it's playable for..... years. One day I will.

This map rules so much. My biggest gripe is the sparsity of items/health, and I wish it was bigger and had even more secrets :D

Believe it! =) I like it...and thx

My last comp exploded with sparks, and I lost all of my alpha/beta/final maps I had for Q3A, and have been slowly getting a good part of them back on dial-up making it a very slow process. I've downloaded 593 maps, and still don't have them all back=/ I've found that every map is liked by somebody.

Even box-maps can be fun to play with Instagib mod.

dzjepp, have you played my rrctf2 on our servers yet? I have seen you there but can't remember if we had it in rotation during one of those times.

Hmm, I don't believe I have but I'll try to play there more often and maybe I'll catch some nice custom map stuff. Not sure but from what I've seen the ffa server runs the stock id maps only? :paranoid:
