Laptops

Post by Kills On Site »

So who is making a good laptop these days. I am thinking something under $1000, hopefully well under $1000, doesn't have to be super speedy, but of course the faster the better. I have always been a fan of WinBook, however most of their good laptops are higher end. I found a nice HP on newegg, not too powerful of course, but its alright. I personally hate Dell, but if they make the best then I'm willing to look into it. Also what is the best low end processor for a laptop?

riddla's suggestion is a good one (gasp). not sure why you're hating on Dell, but they do have some well built and decent bang for the buck laptops from my experience.

Well I personally just don't like Dell as a company. They just do too many freaky things to their computers, but I did look into their laptops. Personally I am leaning towards an HP NX6110 latop. Here is the HP link. I like for a few reasons, first you can get it here at newegg, it seems fairly nice, large enough monitor and integrated 802.11B and $100 mail in rebate, not to mention $7 three day shipping. The things I don't like, at least on newegg's configuration are that is has 256MB of RAM, and I don't know if that takes up one or both DIMMs, I would like to think only one as I don't think they put 128Mb chips in anymore, but no way of knowing. The hard drive is comes with is 5,400 RPM, but I don't think that a 7,200 RPM drive will be available for this price. What do you guys think?
