... this game is 1 big unfixable bug.
i wonder if anyone is ever gonna buy a raven game again.

Somebody's an overstater. Q4 is primarily a SINGLE PLAYER game, and by that measure, the game turned out very well. Just because an online community of a couple hundred vocal anti-fans say the game is crap due to the MP being crap out of box does NOT mean the entire game was crap.... this game is 1 big unfixable bug.

They promised us a Single and Multiplayer game.wviperw wrote:Q4 is primarily a SINGLE PLAYER game, and by that measure, the game turned out very well.
You realize it's impossible to test out every possible system right? You realize software development is a business right?ichicanix wrote:Dont programmers usually test a game for bugs before they send it out to stores?
I mean, did noone of the programers find all these bugs like: you cant run on stairs, you cant run a demo properly, .... cant list all bugs in this post, the post could get too long.
If i make any product, no matter what kind, i should be sure that it works.
Check how many people are online on Q4 servers. I think more people are playing Pacman online then Q4, cause at least that game works properly![]()
Today almost every Quake3 player has a good enough PC to run it all maximum detail. But many still play it with picmip4 and stuff.
If you asked Quake3 players before you made Quake4, you could have known that its more important to have a smooth game then a hiqhquality grafic game that feels like its broken.
bb!
They didn't need to test every possible system. Give me ONE system in which auto-downloading works, in which the voice communication is completed (hell u have the option to mute a player but there is nothing for them to mute), in which you are able to run up stairs, or any of the other thousand of game bugs?duffman91 wrote:You realize it's impossible to test out every possible system right? In the world of software engineering, there are times when releasing a half finished product will yield more profit than a completed one way past its deadline.Kypt wrote:They didn't need to test every possible system. The problem is not that these bugs exist on a few configurations, they're for EVERYONE! Don't give me that bs. It is a business and its obvious that Raven won't get to keep the Quake franchise in the future. The quake franchise was known for its online, sure q2 was a sp game but its MP owned the market for online fps. Quake's name is now stained with a lousy experience from Q4's MP. Everyone was looking forward to it, now no one cares. No one plays.
Game development IS a business, lets see how that business holds when they compare their profit with what they should've gotten. Reputation sometimes is better than profit, since it affects future profit. Quake's name is tarnished, wouldn't be surprised if id kills it and pushes its new franchise (still unannounced) instead of it to compete with other FPS in the future.
youd think theyd learn from their mistakes, no?DooMer wrote:all of the quakes had launch problems. q2 didn't even have mp maps.
Id did, Raven didn't, this is Raven's first Quake game, and they don't seem to care too much about it. Take a look at there forums, no one even posts in the Quake 4 topic, just there fag trek and Jedi knight shit.MKJ wrote:youd think theyd learn from their mistakes, no?DooMer wrote:all of the quakes had launch problems. q2 didn't even have mp maps.
Your recollection of the previous Quakes isn't correct then. Quake 2 did have a comparable amount of backtracking and no dialogues in the meantime (only the "computer updated" sound and mission objectives).corsair wrote:I know Im missing quite a lot by not bothering to play it again, but I really dont want to go through that bollox which is totaly unlike what I was used to in older quake games - and by that what I was expecting to get.
