Post by I cant spell u »

I can't seem to access Quake4world.com, it gives me a 404 error. WTF IS GOING ON?

I did some manual work on one of the wiki databases, the next time I looked there was 0 data across all of my databases =/

I think it was some protection script from my host, I've been mailing to find out WTF caused it. Until then, I took stuff offline.

On a related note I'm stewing over what to do about the wikis. There's been almost 0 uptake on adding anything in, except for a handful of dedicated individuals... and they spent most of their time fighting a tide of spam that I haven't got the daily time to counter.

If you get the translationmethod sorted out i'll do the dutch. I'm not knowledgable enough on quake compared to the other individuals for anything else.

Is there no effective way to quell the spam like making everything moderator-approved or something?
Conflict of ideals, I guess. On one hand, I could do that but it wouldn't really be a wiki anymore. On the other hand, it's quite possible to prevent the spam with simple blocklists but the MediaWiki software is an absolute hunk of crap... getting it to work reliably was talking more time than I have to put into it, and there's no way to delegate it.
