Reccomend me a good socket 939 AGP 8X board
Not too long ago I bought the 6800GS AGP card, however, my aged xp3200+ is a we bit slow these days. Anyways, i need a good AGP8x mobo solution as i wont be going to x16 very soon, but will want a good cpu to carry over when I do.
Was looking at the Asus A8V, i can get it for $95 CDN
does it also support dual core? I'm not sure.

ncix has 2 of them, but they're both opened boxes. But it's not a bad price at $130. They're also guaranteed no DOA.AmIdYfReAk wrote:Gah! i am sorry, i can only find one in stock on a local store that dosent do online stuff.
i dident know that they would fade out this quickly.
i will keep looking, But Ncix, tiger, Egg, Canadacomputers, all dont have it.

allrighty, i think i've come to a conclustion.
AMD64 X2 4200+ 2x512k - $419.95 CDN
Asus A8V - $94.95 CDN
I'd really like to go with the nforce3, but it's so damn hard to find one new.
Thanks amidyfreak
Edit: Will it be possible for me to update the bios without the cpu installed? Seeing as how out of the box this board doesn't support X2 processors. I don't think i have access to a single core 939 cpu.

no there isent a way to do that.
install it, and try to boot her up.. if she dosent go then take the mobo to a local computer store and ask them to update the bios for you.
last time i did that it cost me $20 cdn ( i did a bad flash on the mobo ).
Call around and ask them the price's before hand.
gl mang, and i hope you are happy with your investment!

Okay, so i went out and bought the a8v board and the 4200+ x2. They updated and mounted the cpu for free. I installed the mobo into my case i can start-up my comp but it wont boot up and my screen doesn't even get a signal.
Specs:
600W psu
AMD64 X2 4200+
Asus A8V w/ latest bios
2GB OCZ pc3200 dual ddr
6800 GS AGP 256mb
80gb hdd
I've tried switching the ddr sticks into different slots, tried using only one stick. Made sure about all the power plug-ins, nothing works.
