Has anyone heard even preliminary h/w specs for this game? It looks fantastic, but if I have to get an SGI cluster just to play it, well...

Same spec as Doom 3, lower than Quake 4.

I'll say RAM is more of a key factor for these kind of games than others. As O'dium said, same spec as doom 3, lower than quake 4 but I will personaly estimate 2GB of ram to play it high specs comfortably.

if the demo confirms that this game is as good as i think it'll be, i'll buy a new machine for it. fuck it - if it's that good, i'll buy two.

No. They have a complete optimization of the shadowing programs, plus its rendering a lot less making it less cpu bound. Also, they have implemented LOD again on various objects and models, making it less CPU bound still.

Like was mentioned, it will probably run best with ram and a decent GPU with ram (256 GPU+), but its really not as CPU bound as Doom 3 was thanks to a lot of new trickery in the engine. OverDose uses the same ideas which is why we can push 64,000 polygons for terrain alone in a single scene with hardly any frame rate drop.

EDIT: Changed test so i sound more Engrich.

Sweet. I'm a bit CPU limited at the moment, (XP2500+), but I've got 2Gb of PC2700 and a 6800GT. Sounds like I'm ready to roll.

Every interview ever done about system specs, plus the devs talk all the time on the forums.

Anyways, 2 new pics:

The facts are if you can RUN Doom 3 with a decent frame rate, then you are able to RUN ETQW, there is nothing that says what you have said which is that it runs faster than Quake 4. And thanks for the link I read it all day at work.... sometimes we need a break from making ETQW :)
