WGA11B wireless gaming adapter and DI-624 router

Trying to get my 360 on Live using this adapter that I bought from a friend. I've configured the adapter to obtain an IP addy automatically, set it for 128 bit WEP and entered the router's WEP key. I've made sure that the router will give out an adequate number of DHCP leases for my network. The adapter will not pull a DHCP lease, either connected to the Xbox or as a wireless NIC on my laptop.

So, any ideas? Are WEP keys case sensitive?

try without WEP first and see if the adapter is even functional.

Yeah, eliminating the WEP first is the conclusion me and my IT nerd just came to. The guy that sold it to me had it working, and he wouldn't have sold me a non-functional piece of gear. His cube is ten feet away.

Yeah, I had a laptop wireless card I fucked about with for a long time before I learned that it had to be updated to work on the latest wireless encryption standards.

Tho if it's a native 360 accessory they're pretty new....

It's not the newest, and it's not the offical Xbox wireless adapter, but I've found statements from folks on the web that it works out of the box with the 360.

edit: Good idea on the f/w update, I'll try that tonight.

No firmware updates to be had. This thing is really starting to piss me off.

ok. so far, it's failed to work with or without WEP on either your laptop or 360? what brand is your router? crapshoot, but try upgrading your firmware on it. save your current settings if your router supports it.

Get the dude to give you your money back and go buy one that works, comes with instructions, maybe even tech support.

My thoughts exactly, which is why I went to Best Buy last night and got the official Xbox 360 wireless adapter. Turned on the console, plugged in the adapter, put in the WEP key and bang, it worked flawlessly.
So, it was $100 and that's more than I wanted to pay, but I've already gone through $100 of aggravation.
