This decision should not be regarded as critical towards id software or Raven, but should be considered a compliment of how well Quake 3 has withstood the test of time.

Well, not really, people seem to be voting for cpma vq3, which I would have to agree, it's just techically a better mod than osp. osp is so old I wouldn't mind something 'new'.
It's because those same idiots seem to forget the superiority that cpma vq3 would bring to the table and instead prefer to cling to the notion that cpma fps independent physics/tweaked spawns/tweaked armor would somehow ruin the game (as it is, those things are really miniscule and the benefit would far negate these 'side effects'). In all honestly it would be a better choice.

I'm sure people who's played OSP all their careers agree perfectly with you, say cooller or czm-

except for one thing- the only decent argument against using q3 was that it would put the non-oldskool (ie- not on the scene before 2002) players at a disadvantage. promode vastly steepens the learning curve since the movement is much more complicated and the maps tend to be small and play very fast. if they use promode i can tell you right now that the winner (assuming these players show) would come from voo, rat, aph, elp, matrox, and maybe one i'm forgetting or a secondary promoder like z4 or daler who bothered to train hard and got some lucky maps. it'd make for some decent demos, but it'd kinda suck as a tourney platform.
i've said it before, but i'll say it again - i hate how cpma doesn't have orthogonal movement control like vq3. (arq actually wanted orthogonality but the team decided against it)
