I bought a black one 3 days ago......was playing too much with the gf's white one. When I came home and fired up Meteos (great game, get it DB), I noticed ONE red pixel in an otherwise black screen. I brought it back the next day and got a new one without any hassle.

It's a great thing.....only it will smudge very quickkly cause of the black glossy coating

You need either a wireless router or one of Nintendo's Wireless USB dongles DB.

You shouldn't of charged it you should always run the battery dead first, then charge fuly, then run it dead, then charge fully, then go about your business. It just trains the battery.

But congrats on getting it dude.

li-ion batteries don't need ' training', because they don't have a memory effect. Guess what battery the DS lite uses?

I have. It's great and easily the best in the series so far. The only thing that could have made it better is wifi support.

Its built into the game, the game needs the blue WiFi logo on the front of it. Mario Bros isnt one of them.

Yeah, it's great, although the learning curve rises sharply at certain points.
A great way to while away the time given that it's turn-based and you can play at yer own speed.

doombrain, did you ever get a GBA? if not, you should pick up some GBA games. its one of the best reasons to have a DS imo.

Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past (best zelda game imo) and Super Mario World have just been announced as being budget titles. yeah they're old games and you've probably played them before, but they're fun to just whip out and play for a bit.

Actually, for the first time you should let it charge for at least 12 hours.

Good call DB. I am actualy thinking about buying my second one. If i can get it in black i just might, but im not sure if its availible in the states. Im currently hooked on metriod prime. Once you get good with the stylus its really nice.

DS Lite wifi is built in. A game like metriod prime or mario cart or lost magic will have wifi access int he menu of the game itself. Look for WFC i think its called.

Black is UK Only, import it?

The great thing about the Lite is that when playing games like new Mario Bros, and metroid hunters, you can suddenly see EVERYTHING. You think the DS is fine until you play a lite, then its like HOW LONG WAS THAT THERE FOR?

BTW, am I the only person who seems to want another 2D metroid game that uses the stylus for puzzles some how?

Imagine having your map on the top screen, and when you want to bring the menu down it slides down and lets you navigated uisng the stylus, then going back to the actual game world, you can have touch screen puzzles, like certain blocks that you used to have to shoot before you could maybe rub with the stylus to find secrets, or blow into the mic to reveal hidden doors covered under sand...?

What if while running around, there where certain enemies that if you tapped first, then became sorta stunned, so you could shot them...?

The possibilits are ENDLESS, why is there not another new 2D metroid game it would own, and hard...

I agree o'dium.
While a first person shooter Metroid on the DS sounded like a great idea, in practise I find that the control method is far too fiddly.

They need to try something that takes advantage of the DS' features rather than try to shoehorn Metroid Prime into a console not really designed for it.

There was a game titled "Metroid: Dread" that was on the games list for e3 2006 but it was taken off. It was rumored that it was going to be a 2d metroid game.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metroid_Dread

I seriously pray that it's officially announced sometime in the near future.

I think a 2d metroid would ROCK. I loved the gba metroid games but I feel that they just didn't quite live up to Super Metroid because of the limited amount of buttons and control on the gba. The ds has graphically superior to the SNES and has as many buttons as well as a better soundchip.

Nintendo needs to make like konami with their 2d castlevania games and start pumping them out for the DS. If you're a huge fan of metroid I'd highly recommend checking out the 2d castlevania games for gba and ds. You'll notice some huge similarities with the metroid games. Both are my favorite 2d series of all time. :icon14:

I can only hope. :tear:
