Quick question:
Which would be a better choice of a D-SLR; the Canon Rebel XTi or the Nikon D80?

Regardless of the fact that I own a considerable amount of Canon gear, the price and high ISO peformance would push me towards the Canon. It's also much easier to get your hands on lenses you might want for the Canon system. Lenses Nikon released a year ago can still be hard as hell to come by. If you have big hands, though, you probably will want a larger Canon like the 30D. I don't know how big the D80 is, so I can't comment, but the optional battery grip would make either camera easier to hold for large hands. Get a budget together before you do anything, though...

Aright, so far my plan's this:
Getting the Rebel XTi and an EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5.6 IS USMthrough my job (some canon dealership stuff allows me to get the camera body, for about $650, and the lens for about $400)
Is that a solid plan, or does the max aperture on the lens suck bad enough to warrant saving up for the EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM?
