Building a new system

Post by FragaGeddon »

I'll be making roughly $400 more per month at work now, so I think it's time to invest in a new system.
I'm planning on going with Intel this time.
I also want a dual core system.
Also planning on getting Vista.

My main concern is the motherboard.
Not sure what the current technology is or
what's coming out in the near future.
Planning on getting at least 2 gigs of ram. Probably dual channel ram.
May also get 2 video cards, at least one for now.
I'll probably liquid cool these also. And I'll probably need a new case.
This might take me several months of saving to pay for all the parts.
Probably also pick up a 360.

I guess I'll also have to get a new monitor for this system also.
Probably something widescreenish, and that can play video games.

Probably get most of my parts from PC Cyber, but may buy off the web also.

I just quickly put this together.

CPU
Intel Conroe E6600 Core2 Duo (2.4Ghz)
or
Intel Xeon Dual Core 2.0GHz 1333MHz FSB

Motherboard
ASUS P5N32-E SLI

Memory
Corsair TWIN2X 2048MB 240-PIN DDR PC-3200

Video Card
BFG 7950GX2 GeForce PCI-E 1GB

Monitor
?

Looks like quite a gaming rig. I can recommend a 19" Viewsonic gaming LCD. 8ms perhaps.

I like the motherboard because it dosen't have onboard sound, but rather it's own sound card.

Well I'd like a nice LCD widescreen monitor that's got good colour and is great for gaming.

Hey FragaGeddon....I picked up the e6400 and a gigabyte mobo from pccyber last month. Tigerdirect has/had better prices on the bfg vidcards. Got the 7950 gt oc for 319$. I got 2 gb of 0cz pc6400 from ncix for 45$ cheaper than pccyber had it. I did get a new case and psu at pccyber as well.
