is scsi still a worthwhile contender when it comes to value/performance, or should I just go for the ultra ata?
also does anyone know of any hot prebuild pc deals out there right now?
scsi or ultra ata 100?

Have used relational and linear backends on scsi for over 10 years, so I'm sold on it's speed, reliability and early notification of impending failure.
If price is not a factor, always buy scsi, that's my motto.
Personally have had hopeful results with ata as well, but it's not considered an industry standard--rightfully so--as it's not been around long enough to qualify as such.
