md3 model (upper & lower body separte so far)

Post by kookoopapa »

I use 3ds max7 to create a model and also import a bip file.

after that, I also attach the tag into the bip and export it

however, I found the tag will no any animation in MD3Compile.exe

Thus, I try to rename the tag object into other name in 3ds and export it into md3.

and using MD3Compile.exe to rename it into tag objects.

now, it seem work, but the upper and lower body separate so far.

Anybody know what step I do wrong?

Thanks Thanks

Well, I'm not to experienced using md3compile.exe, I've always entrusted "Npherno's MD3 Compiler" to swaggle md3 files. I find it works just fine. Maybe give that a try if you can't figure this one out.

I'm just trying to understand fully your problem. The model's upper and lower portions are to far apart, so that would be caused by the tag_torso, being misaligned on either one of the md3's. In this case I would assume the lower.md3 of the model, but it could be the upper aswell.

Be sure that when your exporting the upper and lower, frames and tag's that you check which tag_ it is supposed to be associated with correctly. I haven't used the md3 exporter for max7, so I don't know exactly how it worksm, but I've never renamed tags in the compiler and had it work, so it needs to be done while exporting.

be sure to link the tag_torso to the bip 01 portion of the model, which basically remains static...general up and down and rotational movements are fine, but you do not want that tag swinging around like it's attached to his hand.

One tag_torso for both upper.md3 and lower.md3.

Sorry I couldn't help out more specifically with the programs your using. Good Luck.
