I can remember seeing some pretty nice design from mjk and bitwise, who else has experience with ground-up design art? I have a company logo and some other market materials that need an arteest's touch. Of course, were it a good fit, all work would be compensable ?
anyone, anyone?

:icon31: I suppose I do alright but I'm no pro. Brisk is the best I can think of. Transient is good but I think he's more of a creative artist.
If you want to send me a sample or two I can take a look and if something pops in my head I'll run with it. Might be able to have my cousin take a crack at it too. I think he's gotten better than me over this past year.

r00k 'preciate the reminder: Brisk! how can I forget the mastah?
Thanks db, I'll send you some shite here in a bit.
MKJ , Bitwise, it's cool I understand, you just don't have love for the white-skinded man.
SerKrunkTam that's a very elegant Red x, but I might need to see something more in the way of "yourcrypa.jpg" with a business slant before I make a final decision.

Alas, I have a 10,000 word dissertation to write as well as 2 ongoing studio projects. So no time for anything really, but thanks for the props!

I've been working with Photoshop for a couple years now. Graphic design is my favorite style of art. What do you need, underball?
Oh and I did some trademark logos just a few weeks ago for a friend's business proposal.

OK it went down like this:
me: "I know some guys that could do this very quickly and professionally."
the people who write the checks: "are they local?"
me: "no"
estimator: "I have a buddy who does AWESOME work!"
everybody: "cool, get it done"
2 and a half fucking months later, this is what we get, and it's supposed to fit on a bi-fold brochure.
I blanked out our logo because it's just embarrassing, really.
He wants $200.00 for the work.
Fuck sakes.
look at the beautifully-crafted, custom images

best part is, he's local, so he'll get to hear first hand why my boss thinks his son's kindergarten crafts project is 10x better than this shit.

okay, i think this should be enough to turn this into a challenge.
any of you pro photoshop nerds should be able to out-perform this pile of wank in less than an hour.

Yeah but now I'm filled with work on weekdays and I'd rather spend my spare weekends with friends than Photoshop
I'll see what I can do.

Althought I know I certainly could do better then that shit I'm more the editing kind of guy and ground-up work is usually wasted on me.
Basically it's a bifold brochure for a business which has to do with asphalt and is simply there to promote the company and not a project. Am I right?

exactly right surv.
I guess more than help, I wanted your opinions. I know it's just a brochure and I didn't want to sound like I was being a prick to this guy's friend.
It just seems so ridiculously half-assed to me.
The low-resolution, googled images are the best, imho. I have some material I'll float via either imageshack or ftp.
LOL don't spend too much time on it Maz. I'm sure you'll come up with a much better end product, this joker may suddenly go from trash to class on the final draft.
