norton internet security 2006 HELP!

Post by Tsakali_ »

a friend of mine just got a new compaq and he tried to remove norton from it...the result was a computer that could not browse the internet.

the norton installation is all fucked and I do't know how to help... is there any tools I can use to clean this fucker up? If nothing more, just to uninstall norton at this point, and get back control of ie7, whe I try to remove it it's askng for a norton int. sec. center administrator account login

did he get a Recovery CD with the computer?

the quickest and easyest way to get it done would be to "restore" windows on the machine..

if that dosent work/dont have the dick, call HP and get them to send you the CD and Walk you through fixing the situation.

you DO get free tech with the purchase of there computers, ya know? :)

Compaq desktops usually come with the recovery on a separate partition on the hard drive. First thing you should do is back up the recovery partition onto CD/DVD (there should be a utility in the start menu somewhere). Then restore either from disc or the hard drive.

that's not the issue, the issue is within norton center which doesn't want to load, nor uninstall itself, so basically it fucks you and good luck!
