Please do not call me a newbie, I only wish to know.
I have been looking and looking for anyway to _legally_ compile q3a source, but I do not want to spend money (For I have none.). Is there ANY compiler than can compile q3a's .dsw and .dsp files? I really want to mod, but I don't have the money to buy Visual C++ 6.0 from Microsoft. I have Bloodshed-Dev C++, but I realize it will not compile it. Any plug-ins mabye? I am unsure of how this works.
Please note that I'm asking for a legal way to do this, if there is.
Some help with getting the IDE?

Plus you can still get Visual Studio 2005 Express from Microsoft, legally, for free.

if you just want to write a mod, not change the engine:
