Just bought myself a 1999 Chevrolet Cavalier. Pretty decent car, 2 door, manual, etc. Just onto the road test Wednesday and I can actually drive it around.

Any good recommendations on how to connect an iPod into a car audio deck? It's got no tape deck, and FM radio would just degrade the sound quality. I thought about getting a new head unit, but I can't find one with a USB port and iPod compatibility for less than $250.

my gf's got a sony that has a jack that I just connect to the headphone output on my Zen. Dunno why it wouldn't work with and iPod...

have you checked out kenwood decks? i was just looking at their website a few days ago and it seemed a lot of their midrange to lower end decks had usb connectivity. oh and in my experience you're better off buying the head unit online and wiring it in yourself (very easy to do) as most walk in car audio places are skeezy and will try to rip you off.
as for the car...esh, i hope you like it. two of my friends have owned a general at one time or another and at first they seem like decent cars but after a while the turned out to not be so great.

congrats on the car. you can get a cheap HU for about $100 with a aux input on the front of it. headphone out from your ipod>aux input and you're golden.
Factory radio must have an "AUX" button.
» You will need to disconnect the external factory CD changer, if you have one, and connect the new adapter in its place.
» Factory radio must not have an indash CD player.
» Adapter plugs into the factory radio.
» If the factory radio has an auxiliary tape deck or CD player, disconnect it and plug the adapter in its place.
» The Crutchfield MasterSheet, if available, does not cover OEM integration.

I currently own 2 GM vehicles and 1 Ford. They've all been relatively problem free so far. Did have one lemon a few years ago though. Hit and miss I guess.

Wait, so you have to sacrifice your cd changer to use it? =\
