playing any region DVD on region locked DVD-ROM

ok, my optiarc ad-5170a DVD ROM is locked on region 2, and i'm wondering what'd the best solution for playing any other region DVDs on it (without resetting the region in the player itself, obviously - i only have 4 more changes possible)?

is DVD Region+CSS Free any good, for example?

'm make a duplicate of the DVD with it being region free.

yes but without changing the DVD player's region it'd have to be region-free already to make the dupe

no software can read it?

I assume the drive can "see" it and gives you a region error, correct?

If thats the case, any GOOD ripping software will pull it.
