Site upgrade

Post by DooMer »

The forums have been upgraded. Old school topic icons make a return along with an ignore feature. To enable the classic q3w theme, visit your profile. While you're there you can set your birthday, Xbox live gamer tag, and Quake Wars name to allow others to view your stats. There are some other features I won't go into, but the majority of the changes benefit the moderators.

If there are any suggestions, or weird happenings going down, post them here. I'll probably still be tweaking things over the next few weeks.

If you can't get into your account, or are having trouble, email wyddoomer@gmail.com

I seem to have lost the ability to 'mark all forums read' at the bottom of the forum summary page.

The line below each post for user actions (report post, edit, delete) breaks the flow up a bit much. I'll get used to it, but it's a step backwards IMO.
Aside from that, nice. Was this a PHPBB upgrade or some code changes?

Mark all forums read is topright now.

Agreed on the line beneath posts. And the posts start so far to the left and end so early to the right.

I like the Color selection to the side of the post box and that all of the emote icons are there to the side instead of needing to bring them up in a seperate mini-window.

But the topics lists in each forum seem to be smashed from left to right making it so that way fewer topics can be viewed on a page at a time if you have your favorites/search/history side window open and if you close that side window the topics go back to normal hight, but there is a load of unused space at the end of the last post and poster area. Looks like quite a bit of wasted space.

Also not all forums have the same options available when posting. Though this may be on purpose.

I noticed that some members have lost their avatars. First one I noticed was Dave.

Just noticed one more thing. Announcements Image at the top of the page seems to just be a black area.

Nice job and nice changes for the most part though. ;)

1) Just fyi, vomiting is the new bukkake.

2) when I view a thread in GD, the Void, etc. I can't actually go back to the forum's main page...I have to first go to the big forum index page, then click back to the individual forum's main page to see the forum's complete topic list. It's evil.

Posted links no longer have a new window as their target. Not sure if that's intentional or not.

Thanks for getting it back up DooMer.

Question: In the profile area, what's up with attachments? Are we able to use that for anything?

You can't get back to the forum's main page by using the jumpbox or clicking the forum image?

attachments are disabled.

I'll try to work on maximizing screen real estate.

Looks like qtracker went down, so qw links won't be working until the official stats page comes online. Bummer.

fixed the link thing. phpbb didn't support it for some reason... something to do with web standards.

My only complaint, and it is somewhat big, is that links don't open in new windows, otherwise things look nice.

Turbine's rank needs to be fixed/temporarily reset. I don't think this board identifies Japanese.

[*]the bar below each post seems pointless.
[*]"who's online" at the top vs the bottom is a bit irritating.
[*]i seem to have lost the list-box for forum jumping at the bottom.
[*]the name/rank over the icon being center rather than left justified looks messy.
[*]off-site links don't spawn new windows

other than those style issues i'm down with it.

edit: [*] doesn't work anymore for a bullet?

what browser are you using? other than the drop down, and the bar below the posts, i'm not seeing the issues you mentioned.
