finding xp key

I was given a laptop with xp home, but the product key sticker is half torn off or scraped off the bottom. And the computer restarts all the time so it needs a reinstall.

Is there a way to find the product key without actually being able to boot into windows?

In addendum to that guide I wrote, you can avoid messing with a working PC's registry by setting up XP in a VirtualPC or VMWare session and doing it in there instead.

If it still works half the time the tuneup utilities trial will show it as well with less hassle.
