What is your hood like?

Do you talk to your neighbors? Anything unusual about where you live?

Lots of old people around where I grew up. So everyone was pretty friendly. Now I live at school so now my neighbors are drunk constantly, but still friendly.

I have older couples on either side that I'm friendly with, talking over the fence type stuff. My wife is friends with the wife of the retarded schmuck that lives behind us, and I have a family of dumbfuck jesus freaks across the street. The father and his dipshit son just bought new motorcycles! I hope they both die!

My next-door neighbours are stupid, lousy cunts, but we know some good people on our street who are mostly elderly folks.

I just sleep with them, especially the neighbor's daughters.

Older folks on one side, younger on the other. I chat with the older ones occasionally. Pretty quiet neighborhood though. Everyone keeps to themselves mostly, which is the way I like it.

...quiet mostly... has a neighborhood pool, a park with a ball field, recreational center... we visit at the each others pools, bbq'ing and indulging in some adult beverages and primo cannabis sativa when not golfing, fishing, beaching or boating it...every Mardi Gras and Christmas there are parades with floats throwing "stuff" out for the kids...we watch out for the old people and the young kids and everyone packs a gun...

We live in a court yard, in a small country town. Our court yard is considered to be in the nicest part of the town( we can see the river, and our house is on a hill. ).... We all smile and wave to each other in the mornings as we all drive off to work, and when we come home. We talk to each other on the weekends...small yard talk...and about the ongoing native stand-off sometimes. There's never any noise, unless there's a fire..then the local fire station turns on the air raid siren.. we hear it maybe 3 times a year. We're the youngest home owners in the court....and we feel like they resent us for it sometimes. Some of the neighbors have bought or sold their houses for half a mill.( and then some) So some of the new one's seem to give us the look some times ...cuz we dont cut our grass every fucking week.
nice place to live though. We're happy. Our closest neighbors like us allot..we're on a first name basis and share yard tools. Santa Claus starts off his float in our court every Christmas parade..( he's our neighbour)

I live in Saint-John which is atlantic canada's cesspool of criminal activity. My neighborhood is what you'd expect, full of bum's and theives.

I walked out my house yesterday and some punk that owes me 200$ is walking by, so I tell him to pay me my money or next time I see him walking around my block I'll run him over in my car.

lol yeah that was funny... I haven't seen him around.

My old neighborhood we spent 7 years there and all the neighbors sucked.

In the new house it's the opposite. All my neighbors are friendly and helpful, but not annoying. They chat at times but if I'm busy they just say hi and keep going. My next door neighbor was snow blowing my front walk in heavy snows without asking

have been 2 suicides in a 2 block radius from my house in 3 months. Both women, both in the garage. One woman was 35 with a husband in Iraq. The other was 62 and did it two days ago. Drove by the house when they still had the body covered by a tarp on the driveway. Crazy because its a neighborhood that is very quiet with little old retired people who spend all day working in their yard and I live right across from a nunnery with real nuns. But this is the kind of place where you'll have nothing crazy happen for 20 years and then this and then another 20 years of quiet.

the only downside is the house that was turned into a rental and got some bad tenants, but some new folks moved in and that appears to be better now too.

Cabbagetown. We're friends with all our neighbours, we know most of the people on our street, everyone is nice to everyone else -- which is kind of necessary when you are surrounded by Regent Park, St Jamestown, and a giant cemetery. Then again, it gets rated the most desirable neighbourhood in TO after the Annex pretty much every time they do a study.

i live on the 27th floor in a pretty decent building. all my neighbors (there are 6 units per floor) are asian, old, or both. neighbors are quiet, they got mad at me for having my jacuzzi on after 10pm... i was like WTF.

there are some cute asian girls that i see in the pool from time to time (one who lives below me) and a hot white chick on the 10th floor. she just moved in a month ago and I met her while she was on the pathway leading to the apartment building. she was bent over and i was staring straight at her sweet ass... turns out she was marveling at some slugs on the ground and i asked her what's up... she was about to pet one i think. strange but that body makes up for it.

mostly black with asian and hispanic, nobody talks much to anyone else. After about 10 years living here, my black neighbors began to acknowledge my existence, I guess it took that long for them to be convinced that I wasn't going to show up on their front lawn with a burning cross. After some of the old pictures I've seen on the internet, I don't blame them.

i'm awash in a sea of chavs, though the neighbours are ok. whenever i take the dog down to the park, i'm always wondering how many burned out cars there'll be, or what the local kids managed to destroy (thankfully most of the wooden stuff was replaced with concrete/steel). it's annoying, because in summer it's not bad, and quite green around here, which is also when all the nice polite chinese kids turn up. no one's been shot yet, but i'm sure it's on the cards

I live in the dutch version of a ghetto, which means it's probably a nice neighbourhood by US standards. I don't socialize with the neighbours much as most of them are useless scumbags, though i've found some people are not what you expect them to be. My direct neighbour for instance, is an alcholic and a small time pot dealer who hangs around with extremely dubious people... but strangely enough he's the one guy in the appartment complex that makes an effort to keep the stairs etc clean. Then there's the utterly friendly surinam granny that's always in the mood for a chat and a smoke but whom i've seen tossing garbagebags directly out of her window...

Crime tally so far: 1 attempted strangulation, two murders, several shootings, 1 fatal stabbing, multiple bullshit alcohol gang fisticuffs, 2 arsony of the school nearby, 1 set of psychos who drove a van into a bar around the corner and then proceeded to rob the place.

But almost always the crimes seems directed at people who are into that sort of thing, i've never once been bothered. Also the rent is very low & it's not that far from work.
