as per my other thread, my comp will no longer turn on. period.
so after trying a new power supply still nothing, no little power on light on the mobo (yes i checked the PSU and it was on) and when i press the power button absolutely nothing.
i'm reasonably certain this is a motherboard issue as in any other case i'd probably get SOMETHING, and i tried a different PSU with the same end result so i don't think it's a power supply thing. so if you guys think it's anything else please let me know.
otherwise it's impromptu upgrade time
i'm looking at this one for a slight and cheap upgrade.
if i were to install this would i need to reinstall windows XP? (it's a different chipset)
So yeah i'm fucked and need a new mobo

The dream is dead.
before you go further check the motherboard for bloated, bent, cracked, contact broken or leaking capacitors.
smell the motherboard .. if she smells burnt she is probably burnt.
take out every hardware card except the video card.. disconnect hard drives..everything.
even with a blown cpu you still get something happening .. it will poweron but no video output .
it sounds to me like the motherboard.
bummer man

Bad mobo.. or PSU.. at least thats what i think..Fury wrote:ran memtest. reported no bad RAM. i can swap some out and check though.riddla wrote:almost as many times as not I've found it could also be bad ram
i mean absolutely nothing happens. no fan action, no power on light NOTHING.
You can test the PSU.. if you dont have another one.. unplug everything from it.. plug 1 fan into 1 molex, do the whole paperclip trick for the power as seen here http://www.duxcw.com/dcforum/DCForumID3/447.html
