Medical unknown - need help from the doctors
My housemate just came home. She had been jogging around a track (new thing for her) and when she stopped, she became aware of this intense discomfort in her nose.
She says it feels like someone stuck two hot chilli peppers up her nostrils and rubbed them around all the interior nasal surfaces.
Squeezing her nostrils shut provides a tiny bit of relief, but not much.
She's in a fair amount of discomfort.
we're gonna smoke a joint and see if that helps.
Anyone know what might have caused this, or any treatment for relief?
She smokes cigarretes also, if that is useful information.

I used to get a sore nose after a certain distance (5km), which is why I ended up sticking to that distance. Apparently it was inflammation of the nasal passages, and there wasn't anything my doctor could think of to counter it, so I just specialised distance-wise. When I'm unfit or it's cold it happens sooner. Perhaps she should just try running until it happens a few times to suss out if it's consistent and pick her distance accordingly.

wouldn't hayfever cause a histamine reaction? She wasn't itching at all, and it didn't feel like allergies. (maybe intense histamine release would trigger such nerve stimulation that it's felt as burning instead of itching though...?)
Inflammation sounds right though - probably prostaglandins (or whatever those molecules are) that get released from vaso dilation?
I remember when I first started doing squats, my body wasn't used to such rapid and intense increases in blood pressure, and the two arteries going up the back of my neck into my brain would start to throb madly. I'd have a terrible headache for days. Started taking advil before my workouts, and it never happened since. I only used the advil for about 8 sessions.
I think they were exertion headaches (or something similar to sex headaches).

I stick to walking because its less stressful on the body and the scenery is more enjoyable. I did 5.5 miles on my lunch on friday and had time to take snaps of interesting buildings like what they are doing to the ROM and various old churches that you just wouldn't enjoy as much as if you jogged by, let alone get a sharp picture of either.
So what am I missing out walking VS. jogging WRT to physical fitness??

you're missing out on a better cardio workout, but at the same time avoiding possible injuries.Canidae wrote:So what am I missing out walking VS. jogging WRT to physical fitness??
i do trail running for the added benefit of increased proprioception (body balance) and less chance of getting hit by a moving vehicle

The main reason I don't run is I don't want my tits to sag
