Vista Oddity (oxymoron?)

Post by Shmee »

So I've got Vista business running on my work laptop, a Dell Latitude D620, and by and large it works great. I was surprised. I have one little oddity that I'd love to fix though. I run dual monitors and it all works as it should, except when I lock my computer (to go smoke or whatever), Vista blacks out my right monitor and only displays the lock screen on the left. Is this by design I wonder? Google hasn't been my friend on this one since so many people are having actual problems with basic setup...

so if i am reading this right, the issue is that the Second monitor turns off when you lock the computer?

To me, that dosnt sound like an issue at all,

if the monitor wouldnt come back on unless to Set it to extend your deskop again, thats an issue.

It does come back on when I unlock it yes. Not really an issue I agree, but I like displaying my wallpapers when I lock up. XP did not do this.

That behaviour is by design. In XP you could get around it by showing the CTRL+ALT+DELETE prompt for login and when locked but in Vista both login prompts are similar and full screen.

Well look at it this way, Vista is trying to save money on your electric bill.

Sad thing is, that would be true if it actually turned the monitor off - it doesn't; just blacks it out :owned:
