PCI Express 2.0 vs 16X

Maybe this is a dumb question but I've been out of the loop for awhile. I'm looking to get an 8800GT (Specs say PCI Express 2.0).
I'm looking at motherboards. Seems most of them have PCI Express 16X. Not sure if I can jam that card in there or if I need one that's 2.0 Or is it assumed a 16X IS 2.0? Someone shed some light. I'm ordering from newegg.

PCI-SIG announced the availability of the PCI Express Base 2.0 specification on 15 January 2007.[4] PCIe 2.0 doubles the bus standard's bandwidth from 2.5 Gbit/s to 5 Gbit/s, meaning a x32 connector can transfer data at up to 16 GB/s in each direction.

PCIe 2.0 is not completely backward compatible with PCIe v1.x. Graphic cards and motherboards designed for v2.0 will be able to work with v1.1 and vice versa, however v2.0 cards will not work in v1.0 and v1.0a motherboards.

afaik a pcie 16x is at least 1.1.

i have an s939 asus sli board atm with an 8800gt, no problems.
