dc_map07 fix request

hey..
I'm usually pretty good at solving missing shaders and missing textures in
maps, but I have one that I haven't been able to solve. I figure I'd pop up
the mystery and maybe one of you can solve it. It's on dc_map07 in the
Dreamcast Mappack(it's available at ..::LvL if you don't have it), which
I believe to be the only good reason to download the mappack.
The problem with the map is that if you go into the room where the MH and
the YA are at, if you look up at the ceiling at the lightbulbs, the bulbs are
black yet the glow of the bulbs are there.
If you put the mappack in your Team Arena folder(missionpack) it fixes the
problem and you can see the lightbulbs on instead of a black bulb, which
would tell me that the shader or texture fix is somewhere in the pak0.pk3 to
be found. I've completely disected that pak0.pk3 many times over the last four
years to try and fix it so...hmm.
I completely gutted dc_map07 from the mappack long ago, as I'd never use it
for any of the other maps, and I never run the map in my TA folder since I barily
ever play that mod. Minded dc_map23 is a good ctf map, but the other
ones that are good ended up becoming the tourney maps in Team arena
(mptourney1,3,4).
The biggest problem with trying to find the way to fix the lights in
dc_map07, is that no error message comes up in the console when the map
loads up.

So, this may be alot to type up about some lights in an old ass map, but
I figure it may be somewhat helpful if any of you feel like trying to
solve it. I'd APPRECIATE it very much. I started Q3A on a Sega
Dreamcast and this was the very first map that I ever played online with it,
and got my ass handed to me by someone on a computer..ooF. Controllers suck!

that's in a clean install of Q3 ... do you have a shader clash with another map ?

mmm :) nice little map, works in clean Q3TA install as well (patched 1.32), it will be a none standard pk3/shader your looking for.

don't overlook psion's remake of the DC's Hidden Fortress. i love both of these maps - the original being one of my top 3 fave maps of all time, custom and default included.

Yeah those are the light Fora, I don't have any shader conflicts, as I have the map all by itself. I even have it
completely removed from the mappack. I got mine from a guy I was in a clan with back in like 2001. It even has
the Dreamcast dc_ss401-409 maps added to it, plus the TeamArena bouncepad and jumppad textures are added into it
also. So basically it's a big illegal version of the mappack. He added them because it was missing those textures.
I already have TA and he didn't sell it to me..so it doesn't really matter all that much to me....but, basically the damn
lights are not working unless I put the map into my missionpack folder.
Did you take that screenshot from the Mappack at ..::LvL and have it in your baseq3 folder..not running TeamArena?

There was a Mapper named BerneyBoy that gutted out dc_map15 and renamed it to Dreamcast.bsp and it has the
same shader in it that the Mappack has. He put his name on it. I don't think it was his though as it screws up
the same textures in the Q3 maps as the Mappack version. So..I assuming that the ..::LvL version has the same
shader that I have in my Mappack.
--Yeah Juggernaut, I like Psion's version also. I remember back when he popped up the beta for it at the Challenge
Forums during the time when the Mapper scene was hopping over there...I miss those days! His is a good one for
promode use. I still like the original better though. I think Spog made it..at least that's what I've heard.

Yup I downloaded the mappack from lvlworld last night as I didn't have it lying around on my hard disk... it's on CD somewhere in the attic I think.... anyways I popped it in the clean second install of quake 3 I have on the PC with no mods added that I use for testing my maps. No other map files other than the original maps where in the baseq3 folder at the time the screenshot was taken. So I guess the shader is fine in the lvlworld map pack version ... when I get home tonight I'll try and work out what you are missing mate.

yeah, i like the original better only because i have had such good times on that map. and i know what you mean about the beta for Psion's version - i jumped at the opportunity to play test it and got shoved in the credits ;)

The Dreamcast Mappack shader does not use correct naming conventions for the shaders within it. If you'v got a custom map in baseq3 that does the same, and has a shader with the same name as one in the dreamcast mappack, then this is where you are getting the conflict.

@Fora - If there is no problem when you check it again, I'd appreciate if you could pop up the shader so I can
download it to see if that's the problem, or if it's a texture that was not put in the mappack. The shaderfile in my
mappack is called dcshaders.shader I hope it is that, because that would mean that the DCMappack at ..::LvL is
a fixed version of what I have. I've had mine from way before it was at that site =/. The sucky this is that I'm on
dial-up, and with the below zero temperature that I have outside where I live keeps getting me booted off of the
internet all of the time. Grrrr!
