Re: Super Bowl predictions
I predict the Pats will crush the Giants horribly.
I also predict I will get very drunk and not wake up in my own bed.

Re: Super Bowl predictions
why were the spygate tapes destroyed!!!
heh.
I don't really care in this case. I don't think the Giants have no chance at all - its the classic they have everything to gain and the pats have everything to lose scenario where david can sometimes - emphasize that word - take down goliath.
Best bet would be to take Giants and the points - the pats haven't been beating the spread lately.

Re: Super Bowl predictions
snooze fest. at least it's getting played in an awesome stadium. i may tune in to see the stomping grounds.
Re: Super Bowl predictions
I'm just hoping the big game might be a decent one for a change.
Aside from the fact that the Pats could make history, I think I'd be happy for either team to win this year.
That said, I'll go for the Patriots: 31 - 27.

What? Really? Their last game was great! They actually gave the Pats a run for their money and I think the Super Bowl has a chance at being one of the best in a long while. Now the Steelers v Seahawks...that game was fucking boring.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:snooze fest. at least it's getting played in an awesome stadium. i may tune in to see the stomping grounds.

i HOPE it's a good game. i couldn't care less who wins though. i'm counting on you to be correct
and yes, unfortunately the Steelers/Seahawks game was a snoozefest. Seahawks

Re: Super Bowl predictions
It *should* be a decent game, maybe even a great one. I want the Giants to win but they will have to play the game of their lives to avoid a last minute Patriots victory. It'll come down to: Manning being able to keep cool and New York's ability to generate a significant pass rush up the middle.
so my heart+balls say= NY 28, NE 21
my brain= NE 31, NY 21

UK'ers, it's on here too - Sunday 3 February, 10.50pm, BBC Two - which means there will be no adverts \o/,
Re: Super Bowl predictions
The Super Bowl is the only time I actually WANT to see the ads. =)
Re: Super Bowl predictions

Re: Super Bowl predictions
I still can't believe the officiating of that game didn't piss the Seahawks off more than it did (I think Holmgren filed a complaint about one of the calls after the game...but it was a worthless gesture at that point). I watched some highlights on NFL network awhile back, and thought that being further away from the incident time-wise would help me take a less emotional and more rational look at the whole thing - and the calls against seattle on both sides of the ball still blow me away. That game was odd though - everything about the game's presentation seemed to indicate that it was all about the steelers and Jerome Bettis's last game from the get go. There were a bunch of vignettes about Pittsburgh and the glory days of football there...it was a big Pitt love-fest from the network. I just seemed like network and the NFL had preordained the Steelers to win that game before it started, and the refs did their damndest to see that through as well. Of course, the calls were probably just shitty and not called with the intent of helping the steelers win, but I do have a hard time buying into the idea that officials are beyond corruption in any way, shape, or form. I just hate it when crappy calls affect the outcome of a game, win or lose.+JuggerNaut+ wrote:i HOPE it's a good game. i couldn't care less who wins though. i'm counting on you to be correctand yes, unfortunately the Steelers/Seahawks game was a snoozefest. The NBA ref who got busted for gambling and having a stake in games he was officiating (and the fact that the mafia had their hooks into him) brought to light what a lot of people expected for a long, long time...there are some crooked refs out there who will make calls for reasons other than the pure sanctity of the game. Usually, though, I'm guessing any intentional bad calls are made with the intent of preventing the winning team from beating the spread if they were favored - this could be done a lot more inconspicuously than any other type of manipulation.
So yea, back on point - I just hope that both teams are able to control the outcome of the game moreso than the officials. Nothing can make a game more boring than a holding call every other play or inconsistent pass interference calls.

Re: Super Bowl predictions
i agree. the officiating was questionable at best, and i don't usually bitch about calls, but that game sure seemed tilted. means nothing now, but at the time i could do nothing but shake my head. yeah, let's hope this game is just a good game. i hate thinking about bad officiating during ANY sport. ruins it.tnf wrote:I still can't believe the officiating of that game didn't piss the Seahawks off more than it did (I think Holmgren filed a complaint about one of the calls after the game...but it was a worthless gesture at that point).
