I have an old Abit NF7-S mobo running a socket-A Athlon 2600+ and I'm trying to swap it with an Athlon 2500+ mobile (the mobile processor is supposed to be a bit faster).
Problem is, after swapping the processor, I can't get any video signal. I don't get any beeps during POST.
I tried swapping video cards, swapped processor back, cleared CMOS jumper, unplugged everything except for processor, one of the RAM chips and video card, and still no video.
All the hardware is known to have worked before. Any suggestions?
No video after swapping CPU
Re: No video after swapping CPU
Are you sure you have all the right cords plugged into for your CPU?
Had that problem just a few days ago, no beeps, warning, video etc... Turns out I didn't plug the processor in correctly.
Don't think I'm trying to be a smart ass either, just the first thing I could think of.

re-seat the ram, as well as the videocard..
if that still dosnt work, unplug everythign minus the video card, one stick of ram, and the keyboard/screen and try it like that.
also try turning off the power switch on the back of the PSU then press the power button 5-6 times wait 10 seconds switch it back on and try powering it up again.

Re: No video after swapping CPU
Gah! I had to reseat the RAM about a dozen times or so.
If I put a stick of RAM in the 3rd DIMM slot, it doesn't POST, and a stick in the first 2 slots would randomly cause it to report a POST error. I eventually fixed it with a lot of trial and error.
I'm still not sure what the issue is, but now I remember that this is the motherboard that would always cause random issues whenever I touch anything on the inside. I'm never touching the RAM in this machine ever again.

Re: No video after swapping CPU
check mobo manual .. they may specify where the third stick is supposed to go assuming you have 4 ram slots.
the mobo probably supports dual channel ram.
also .. i just built a system and tried booting with two 512 ram sticks made by different companies and the system refused to beep post or fart.
inside of the case and gold bits of ram may need some cleaning .. goggles.com

Re: No video after swapping CPU
I remember this mobo being very temperamental but it's working fine now, looks like PMS mood swings are over.
Thanks, but I don't need to buy goggles.
