File Transfers (Vista)
File Transfers (Vista)
So I have a shared directory on my media center.
Why when I copy to that directory from my desktop pc it transfers at ~2MB/s
and when I copy from that same directory to my desktop pc it transfers at ~50MB/s
Ive gone to my media center pc and tried the same test copying to and from my desktop...same results.
why does it do this, and how do i fix it?

cat5e cables? what switch/hub/router are they plugged into? what cards are the computers running?
are they set to 100 full?

Re: File Transfers (Vista)
yes, gigabit, gigabit, yes?
look at the test...its the same on both pc's.
Also, if i map out a network drive it increases the "copy to" transfer speed by 3x, but its still 1/3 of what the "copy from" speed is. strange huh.

nice links Misa.....
Also, if those dont work out for you, try changing the modes of one or both computers to 100mbit full duplex.

Nones of those makes a difference ^misantropia^ , and the 2nd link doesn't apply. Thanks for trying though..ill keep searching.
amdy, changing the speed down to 100mbit on a gigabit connection cripples the speed even more.
