yeh, ahahahahaha, funny guy...
You know what I mean.
I'd stay away from the Mac systems that have liquid cooling systems. They only have a 2.5 - 3.0 year warranty, and Apple appears to be worried about leaky computers. Best wait for the air cooled systems based on the air cooled dual core G5's.

What does your log say? Will be clues in there as to what is causing itGeebs wrote:Ewwww, that's a bit sneaky. Will 7.1 stop the constant kernal panics I've been getting with 7.0.1?
7.0.* has been fine here, both on the laptop and the G5. The only thing that crashes me are dodgy Reaktor ensembles.
7.1 brings full Plugin Delay Compensation across AU instruments/busses/auxes etc. Plus other fixes. It's all detailed at apple dot com.
FWIW apparently demand has been so high they've delayed my order until 27/04 now. So much for me ordering it 2 days before they announced it... :icon33: Next they'll announce you need Tiger for it
Talking of which, the new AU/Core audio stuff in Tiger looks very promising. Chaining multiple soundcards/interfaces as well as improved AU dev tools for a start :icon31:
I had a look in it and there wasn't much that looked very useful. It started happening after a system reinstall (cos my x800 went funny); and despite a subsequent complete reinstall and trashing prefs, etc, I get a kernel panic on starting Logic if I've had the G5 running any period of time - no probs if it's just been reset. I've also reinstalled the drivers etc. for my Hammerfall DSP. What's wierd is it was working fine before...
I've got a couple of old copies of Logic lying around on my hard disk, I guess the next thing is to get rid of those (it's a real pain in the arse that Logic 7 does away with the folder structure). Or try a complete reinstall with Tiger.

I'd agree with you, but it worked fine before with exactly the same hardware (the problem with my x800 was that it suddenly stopped displaying the colour red rather than anything else)
FWIW, this is the crashlog
(but to be honest, I'm not going to get all upset if you don't want to look at it
)

heh, it's not easy to understand these things to be honest. I'm taking it the onloy AU you had running was Guitar Rig right? And you've no APE things in there.
You've a Hammerfall DSP and an FW1884 (M-Audio?). And they were OK together in the past? No recent M-Audio driver update?
Get an account at osxaudio dot com, very helpful over there :icon31:

Nah, just the Hammerfall DSP, which handles audio and MIDI; the only plugins I really use are the EXS24 and Guitar Rig; all my APE stuff got wiped out with the system reinstalls and I've just nuked as much of the cache and preferences files as I could find again (speaking of which I also trashed all of the audio MIDI setup stuff, and Logic recognises all my MIDI controller with no problems - it never worked like that before....).
I also found I had a shitload of files all called "autoload" from previous incarnations of Logic, which I got rid of. Might have been down to that as it actually panics after the Arrange window has already come up.
Wierdly, I just launched Logic three times in a row with no problems - which is why it's so hard to track the cause down.
Ta for the help!
