Quake 3 Rendering Issue

I made a fresh install of quake 3 last night (haven't played in several months) and was greeted with this:
Image
I have a fairly good computer. I run TF2 on high settings smoothly. I know that this isn't an overheating issue because I can actually play the game without any problems.

My machine is:
AMD 64 3400+
2 Gigs ram
Geforce 6800
Samsung Syncmaster 941aw (Only Mention due to it being widescreen)

I've updated my video card drivers, though I didn't uninstall and install them. Reinstalled Q3A. Tried graphics configs, tried changing settings in game (No idea what I was changing them to though.)

I spent a lot of time on google trying to find a resolution. I ran into at least 3 seperate instances of where this seemed to be happening to people without an answer. All of the posts seemed to be within the last year. The only issue my computer has that could be related is one that I thought to be a codec issue. For some video formats I have to turn hardware acceleration down or else videos appear overly bright and faded out. Obviously I tried changing the acceleration modes as well and it still looked the same.

Anyone run into this before?
Thanks.

Try setting the nvidia control panel OpenGL graphics preferences to 'high quality' instead of 'high performance'.

Also try patching Q3.

Not seen this one before, looks like a bad trip.

No luck :(

And by patching Q3 do you mean the point release? If so 1.32 is applied.

Just as a silly test, can you try \r_vertexlight 1 then \vid_restart at the console?

No big change. Although it effected the appearance slightly, changing video settings does it too:

I genuinely don't know, going to have to leave this for someone else, sorry.

Oh wait, can you force all your antialiasing settings off in the nvidia control panel and try again?

Unfortunately no change :( Thank you for the help though. At this point it's more of a curiosity than anything else.

I need to reinstall windows anyway so I will do it sometime this week if I have to. I'm just curious what could cause this because I've never seen anything like it either.

Installed old 93.71 forceware drivers and it works!
