Spec a PC
The app;lication I'm running is called CycloneI'm looking for a 32 bit pc that will :
Have the highest possible ram out there for modeling 3D Point Cloud data into actaual 3 D Models File sizes vary from 80 meg to 26 gig.
The absolute best Vid card on the market anyware.
Quad Dual Processors - The best on the market
1280X1024 resolution, 24-bit color or above, OpenGL 1.2 or higher.
Fast and accurate optimization & preparation of point clouds from any 3D scanning device

Well if it isn't Booger. How you been?
Re: Spec a PC
My thoughts:
You're looking at an SLI 8800 Ultra setup, high-end DDR3 RAM, an ultra high-end mobo (such as an nForce 790i), and the Intel Core Extreme QX9800 quad core.
BTW is your work paying for this or what?

Good on ya for getting a blank check.
I'd also recommend getting dual monitors as you can have many more tool/process monitor windows open instead of doing menu hopping within your application.
What are you reconstructing in the computer? Trade secret?
Give it up anyways, bitch.

Re: Spec a PC
wouldent a app like that need the extra GPU that the Quatro's have?
rather then a consumer based product like the 8800's?
i.e.

1.5 GB memory on the 5600 and a ton of bandwidth....nice.AmIdYfReAk wrote:wouldent a app like that need the extra GPU that the Quatro's have?

the best card is probably a FireGL v8600/8650Captain Mazda wrote:My thoughts:

Re: Spec a PC
indeed, you need a workstation card, not a consumer one
Oh, and more than 3GB of RAM won't do anything for you if you run a 32-bit OS

Re: Spec a PC
Hi booger, long time no see
Get a 64-bit CPU. They run x32 apps as fast or often faster than x32 chips anyway, because all of the fast, new chips coming out are x64.Booger wrote:The app;lication I'm running is called CycloneI'm looking for a 32 bit pc that will

BTW if you want raw performance for this and if it's for business use, you'll be better off investing in a mid-spec server that can house 2 or more quad-core CPUs. Assuming the application is muti-core aware.
If it isn't, then just get one of the fastest old single cores you can find. Raw speed on a single thread is higher.
