Quake III Resolution Problem

Post by Blurredman »

Hi. I am new to these forums..

Well, heres my problem: -

I installed Quake III recently on my new computer. I put the resolution to my monitor resolution of 1200xsomething or other..

Well, there is about half an inch to an inch missing off the right ride of the screen..It is going off the screen but when i move my monitor-screen position it doesent come back. Even at lower resolutions it does the same thing! I do not know why but has anyone got a fix?

try changing the refresh rate in Q3 to whatever your monitor supports (typically 60hz for LCD, 85-120 for CRTs). I think it's /r_displayrefresh.

Erm, the /r_displayrefresh shows the default of 0 where it says mine is 0 aswel. So, how do i change the refresh rate in the console? which command?

umm... /r_displayrefresh 60 (assuming your monitor's refresh rate is 60).

You can also use /seta r_displayrefresh 60 to write it to your config file. Probably better.

As you can see from this screenshot, part of the right side is cut off!! ajusting monitor size with monitor buttons doesent have the bit which is missing...

do you have the latest videocard drivers?

ive had a similar problem with dune2000 a million years ago, updating drivers helped.

I wouldn't try exactly that, but it might be worth backing up a few versions. New drivers sometimes have bugs.

Well, i got rid of nvidia driver version 169.21 (most up to date one) and put the one from my cd on again (version 158 something)

And it made cod back to working standards but not quake 3, i did go around that problem by changing resolution to 800x600 (which didnt work last time) and it is now squarely centred with the screen :) although detail is not how i would like it :(
