Need more info. Scanning what? Documents, photos, slides, negatives? Looking for consumer grade, digital photo enthusiast, professional? Doing enlargements? Price range?

Pretty much just scanning old photos in, perhaps the occasional document.

All-in-ones are pretty cheap now. If your printer might be too old then Id get one. HPs or Canons are good IMO.

In that case, there really isn't much to look into. You won't need something with an obscenely high resolution since you probably won't be doing huge enlargements.

Just pick a few of the Epson and Canon scanners in your price range and then compare the finer details and bang for buck.
