I picked up one of these 4 months ago when they were about £100.

The built-in GPS features are alright, but the unit is very moddable which makes it an attractive buy.

So far I've managed:
  • Gaining access to the WinCE shell
  • Loading a bunch of pocketPC games
  • Loading TCPMP and running Audio and Video with no problems
  • Upgrading to a 2b MicroSD and playing movie rips (4Gb SDHC should work, not tested)
  • Loading TomTom and Igo GPS software
  • Loading Transport Tycoon
Currently working on loading PocketQuake and RNDIS (for TCPIP over USB to run a remote screen). Both should be feasible, I just need to get around to it.

Runs TomTom faster than the native TomTom units. Way faster.

So yeah, if you like messing with getting a bit more functionality out of a device like this, it's worth it for £70.

Downsides to be aware of:
  • There's no buttons, just a touchscreen (can be a bitch for certain PPC applications)
  • No mains charger bundled with the unit (you can buy it seperately, but if you've got a cig lighter it ships with a charger for that)
  • Audio output is mediocre but there's a built-in speaker and headphone socket.
On the GPS side of things I can't fault the unit. The shipped software's maps are about 2 years out of date which is a burn, but once TomTom's loaded there's a lot more updates/support available out there for it. Chances are this thing will be able to run Igo 8 and the newer TomTom versions (I'm running one of the v6 packs) since it's reasonably powerful (250Mhz ARM)
