i've got an old Dell L866r sitting here, but cant find out what type of mobo it uses, i know its a P3 but thats about it. Dont see name on mobo itself and google didnt help.
the problem, there was a fire so firefighters sprayed some or alot of water on it and now only 1 USB port works and both PS/2 ports are dead, i wanna find out if the mobo supports an USB addon card since this would solve the problem, or maybe point me to the mobo manual.

Re: old dell dimension L866r question
Dell makes their own motherboards... or has someone make them, whatever.
If it has a PCI slot, it's sure to 'support' a USB card.

Re: old dell dimension L866r question
Although if 1 of the built-in ports works then you could get by with a hub.
Re: old dell dimension L866r question
ya it does have PCI, i'll look at it again and see if i see an extra connector for USBcreep wrote:Dell makes their own motherboards... or has someone make them, whatever.

Re: old dell dimension L866r question
Ahh... that's just a header. The "USB Controller" for those exists on the motherboard.
You said "card", so I assumed you meant an add-in USB Controller/Port card, which is different.
A hub still makes more sense... both are meager investments but you'll be more likely to reuse the hub sumeday.
