User and IE7 Woes

Post by Kills On Site »

On this PC there are 5 users and the browser of choice is IE7. I have run into no problems with IE7, but for my mother especially when she opens it sometimes it will hang, won't load Google Toolbar or Google, it is pretty much blank except for the address bar. This happens at least once a day and seems to only happen if she did something before opening IE7, usually Spider Solitare. IE7 has never hanged under my account and I am wondering if anyone knows what causes this or how to fix it (and I don't need everyone telling me to use FireFox, it was hard enough getting my mom acclimated to IE7).

I don't know if this will help, but I use IE7 and the only time I have problems with it is after playing Starcraft. I usually get the "done with errors" note in the lower left as it goes to my default page. Refresh and it's gone. I haven't really worried about it cause I don't play Starcraft too often.

edit: Maybe it has something to do with certain games?

Ok, I'll explain the situation, and I worry how bad it really could be. At first I thought it was the Gmail Notifier causing IE7 to freeze, so I uninstalled it, but it will still occasionally freeze just by using the desktop icon. Weirdest part is that it never has happened on my account. Then recently my mom changed her background, and Windows will "forget" it half the time and put up a blue background. Then, while it seems unrelated you can never tell, my sister tries to log on to her account and it says something is missing or corrupted and gives her a temp account, upon restarting her account is all fine and normal, but that was still strange. Giving the events chronologically, i then backup my mom's documents and desktop and then delete her account, making sure all the settings are deleted. I recreate an account and set everything back up, Windows hasn't forgotten the background yet (altough it hasn't been long), and I reinstalled Gmail Notifier and it will still occasionally fail. All of these recent strange mishaps make me wonder if there is a larger error somewhere, either software or hardware. Any thoughts?
