any idea why http://website.com would forward to another site while http://www.website.com wouldn't?

Apache vhost configuration (not applicable if running IIS).

can you post the fix for future generations? Another way to achieve this is using wildcard forwarding from your master server or if it's hosted, using the registrar's hosting service. Most of the big players refer to this as the "@" host record.
