Good SP games?

Post by feedback »

I'm looking for some good single player games for my laptop to play on my upcoming day long plane flight. Laptop isn't too bad, I can play HL2 reasonably well on it, but not many newer games. Don't really care about what genre.

If you haven't played through System Shock 2, you might want to.

Lost Planet isn't too long of a game. The story sucks but the combat is satisfying.

Don't try Titan Quest. It sucks. I just finished it.

I quite enjoyed Titan Quest; each to their own I suppose.

As for other decent single player games, you could try some of Stardock's.
Sins of a Solar Empire and Galactic Civilizations 2 are both damn good games.

And it's been mentioned by me recently, but you can't go wrong with Tomb Raider Anniversary.

NHL games are fun on long trips. So is Doom 3. Best part is imitating the demon noises for your fellow passengers.

depending on what airlines you're flying (how much room they give you, whether or not you get your personal lcd screen, movies, games), it might just be more comfortable to keep the laptop in the bag.

but i guess you probably already considered that.

Played System Shock 2, Deus Ex, all of the good games that came out 2001 or before. Doesn't sound like much has happened since then, I see. :(

If genre really isn't an issue and you haven't already played Indigo Prophecy/Fahrenheit, you'll love this. It's essentially adventure but also has action. It's a brilliant game.

Have you beaten Earthbound and all of the FF games for the SNES? If not, just go get an emulator and beat those, that's more than enough jRPG to fill up a day's worth of time.

I found Condemned to be a great SP game. Whacking hobos with shovels and steel pipes, great stuff.

Company of Heroes or World in Conflict if you're into RTS's.

Mass Effect.
