Outlook Bleak
Outlook Bleak
I have three email accounts that I would like to access from a single app on the desktop. My outlook would do this for me, but it wants to use IE. Me and IE...well we had a falling out some time back. It is no longer allowed within 50 feet of my comp. Is there a way to get outlook to work with FF2? Or, is there another app that I can DL instead?

When I searched the forums, I found an old thread that said the same. I really wasn't sure if that was still good advice. Guess it is. Thank you.

Danke. The gmail is starting to freak me out. I've been on it and outlook for way too long tonite. (even with the set-up-for-dummies instructions gmail has) Mozilla has been good to me so far. They do it all without bothering me with the assumption of my intelligence.

i'm not a fan of desktop email clients only because if your hdd crashes and you've fwd and deleted copies from webmail, you're screwed.

i've gotten my entire family to switch to webmail (my dad's still on yahoo, but he's eyeing gmail). after the first time or two switching ISPs, they learned.
Re: Outlook Bleak
To answer your original question, yes there is a way...
In the options for both IE and FF, there is a checkbox to "check whether IE/FF is the default browser". Check the one you want to use, uncheck the other.

Okay. I have the whole gmail to outlook express thing going along with my various emails to gmail. Only thing is... I can't seem to send email from outlook express. I've gone through all of the suggestions on the gmail settings and nothing seems to have changed. send/Receive works all except for actually sending an email. Does anyone use this system that can help me here?

Re: Outlook Bleak
I'm not sure what you mean by "gmail to outlook" thing, but I'll assume you mean you're connecting OE to gmail.
In that case, the likely problem is that your ISP blocks outbound smtp traffic (most ISPs do, to prevent spamming from their network). If that's the case, you will need to configure all accounts in OE to use your ISP's outbound (smtp) server, and will probably need to authenticate to it in the process. I'll spare you the gory details since you claim to have been through a lot of instructions already (and because I'm lazy).

Thanks creep. While I was waiting for a reply to this thread, I went ahead and installed Thunderbird as suggested by +JuggerNaut+. Works perfectly...I just got a confirm.
I'm just gonna send OE to the same hell I relegated IE to.
Take care and thanks again.
