I'm in a bind here, my Asus P5N Died for the second time after having the mobo back from RMA for about 3 weeks... So that is being shipped off again, and if its anything like the last time i'll be out of a computer for 2 months again ( Excluding the Crap-lap, Media-center(s) and the rents desktop )

So i'm kinda, sorta, looking at new mobo's to buy and replace the P5N with so i can have a board that i'm not worried that nexttime i turn it off, it wont post ever again ( *sigh* )

the things i'm looking for:
775
The damned NB/SB run at 85ºC + ( Dont ask... )
Firewire,
SATA W/Raid.
OVERCLOCKING ( so that rules out 50% of the intel based chips out there.. :/ )

and thats about it, i'd like another Nforce based board, but if a killer intel based one comes around, then so be it.

thanks for your suggestions gents, i'll continue my search and see what direction you guys/Grrl's can point me in.

What I'm using. Very effective active cooling and a great overclocker too. FSB, RAM, even PCI-E slots can all be easily overclocked.
All you need to do is install the latest BIOS and you're set.

Excellent for gaming and media purposes.

i'm trying to stay away from The 680I's for the time being, the issues that i've been having arnt subject only to my board, infact they are subject to ~80% of the 680's out there..

So i'd like to move on to another chipset and hopefully have a beter box because of it..

I was talking to a "Bud" at a local computer store, he was mentioning that the Asus P5Q-E was his best choice bar none without getting into the ~$300+ mobo's out there, Taking his advice at face value and looking into them, they seem to be a decent board.

though, i'd be more inclined to grab the P5Q Deluxe instead For its 16 phase Power to the CPU ( more Phase, less amps per unit, lower overall temps )

on a side note: one of the things that has me kinda worried, it has the Note that if >=4gigs of ram is used, it could be detected as Sub 3 gig's... Mazduh had that issue, wile my 680I mobo dosnt ( it will see 3.75 gig's )

Anyway, just more to look into..

That's because I was on XP 32-bit. 4GB is working fine with Vista 64.

Also, the 32-bit memory deduction depends on the total memory of all the other devices connected to the motherboard, not just the motherboard itself. I had a 512MB video card and an X-Fi soundcard in the mix, that's why XP was only detecting 2.75GB for the OS.

4 gig's total, 512Megs for the Videocard, and windows detected 3.75GiG's....

p.s. its back up, seems shorting out a ground to the Bios got it back up and running... Humm, I'll see how long this lasts.

Fixed. And your OS doesn't care about how much video memory your video card has.
