Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
I think I'm planning on it, if for no other reason than the blue-ray player feature would at least get some use, whereas the Wii hasn't been turned on since sometime last summer.
Has anyone else sold theirs yet?

I haven't yet, but I'm certainly not hanging on to it for the glut of wonderful titles that have been released for it recently.

This is a weird topic, I just sold my Wii today for $275.00 to buy a paintball marker.
Now I just need to sell my Wii Fit

Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
I really hoped that they would have done more along the lines of making good sports titles for it, but everything out there sucks so horribly I can't believe people are still buying them.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
i still like my wii, but i was never a huge fan of console games so SSBB and paper mario are all i want out of it. (and it was a gift, anyway)
i'm a bit disappointed still that it can't do high-def anything and even seems to lag in widescreen.

I kept my Wii and bought an XBox 360
I have to admit though that except for the occasional game of Tetris Party (WiiWare) and WiiFit there's not much to do on the Wii at the moment.
Disaster: Day of Crisis isn't as good as I was hoping for either

Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
I'm holding on to it for Mad World. That's really the only game that could possibly give the Wii some play time now.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
If you haven't got any other consoles, there's always Guitar Hero World Tour ofcourse, but other than that, the line up for 2008 and Q1 2009 is really quite sad.

Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
a lot of people on some other messageboards have already sold their wii from what i've read.
eraser: there wasn't much to do on the wii for a long time. you just got your xbox recently. had you had it before, things might have been different

Wii's are for faggots. Xbox 360 with full h-def on my 46" LCD is fucking brilliant. Playing Farcry 2 ATM.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
so far i think the ps3's gfx are better than the 360.
sp is better on ps3
mp is better on 360
ps3 controller is a lump of wank
blueray is great and the sound is great, much better than hd dvd
interface is good and media, photos, music is very good (lacking random slideshow, hoping for f/w update to fix)
online games shop sucks
internet is good with bluetooth k/b and mouse
in short it's well worth the £300.

It's fair to say many of you forget this, simply giving in to the colon-tickling pleasure that is Wii fit and the like.mancubus wrote:Wii's are for faggots.

What do you think of the media interface? Can you browse local network hardrives? Is it WiFi compatible?Doombrain wrote:oh, standard dvd upscaling is great, sonys bespoke software sees to that.
I'd like to get one for the Bluray player, but I also want the ability to play movies from network and USB hard drives.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
The I/f could be better, but it's not too bad and if you get the BT remote it's easer to use.
Setting up windows media player is very easy and it will read anything you plug in. Video is widely supported, no problems yet. Wifi is internal.

Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
I sold my wii a month after release. After playing Zelda I realized there was little hope for this console (plus i like being able to lay down with a controller instead of having to bounce around the room like an idiot just to get my character to perform an action)

even if you're lazy mkv is the only format i've found that it won't read off a memory stick.Chupacabra wrote:yeah. you can stream movies via wi-fi off your computer hdd and play them on the ps3.YourGrandpa wrote: What do you think of the media interface? Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
What's odd about this thread is that people talk about selling their Wii to buy a PS3, while even if you could sell your Wii at a new price, it doesn't even cover half the price of a PS3.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
I can sell my Wii for about £180, people are that desperate to buy them. Come christmas, they will go up over £200. Ps3's are what, £280 now...?
What are you talking about...

Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
Meh, are there still people willing to shell out that much money for a Wii? I doubt it.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
449 euros for a PS3 with 160 gb HD. Should I get it? Or the Xbox 360 with 60 Gb for 175 euros.
Damn.
Damn.
Re: Anyone else sold their Wii to buy a PS3?
I dont think you know what the demand is for the Wii... Even though its ahd zero decent games for a long time, and even though the next good game is MadWorld and thats ages away, people are still in love with it...Eraser wrote:Meh, are there still people willing to shell out that much money for a Wii? Either way. Nintendo are cunts at Christmas, and they NEVER supply enough to meet demand at xmas.
Trust me. Put your Wii in the local paper near christmas for, say, £300... You WILL get it.
