cannot connect to server

I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have quake 3 arena installed, and have read and realised there are no servers avaliable on the game. So I download qtacker which found loads of servers. But i couldn't connect to any. I just have to wait while it counted up to connect to the server, and it just forever counts. Or, if it does say i've connected, it goes straight back to the start menu without me entering the game. Its driving me mad! I am at the moment using gamespy arcade and still having exactly the same problem, can anyone help please?

p.s i am not behind any firewalls and i have the latest 1.32 patch

After you get disconnected, pull down the console (~, the tilde) and scan it for error messages. In case of doubt, type '/condump condump.txt' and post the resulting file here.

PS: common causes of the symptoms you describe are antivirus software or your ISP blocking the outgoing traffic.

Thanks for reply.I closed my anti virus software and it still didnt work. Im not getting disconnected anymore so I can't post you an error message, instead it is just saying awaiting challenge, and keeps counting up for every server. grr!

Make a condump when it's saying "awaiting challenge" and post it here, it might reveal something.

See if you can connect to this server, 88.198.98.93:27960, it's 1.32. Maybe the servers you tried to connect to aren't 1.32
