Help looking for a quake 3 map please

Post by nutts »

Hi all, it's most probably a very long shot, but I used to play on a Q3A CTF map with a mate back in 2002 or so, and I'd like to try to set up another game at some point. But I no longer have the map, and I've tried to find it using Google but to no avail.

I'm hoping there's somebody here who can suggest what it might be from my terrible description :)

So basically it was a long map with a tower at either end, and the flags were behind the towers. Approaching the tower you had trampoline pads up to each side of the platform around the tower base. From the top of the towers you could snipe across to the other tower. Along the sides of the map there were also some trampolines. If you fell off, you fell into nothingness (space?) and died.

It's a pretty vague description as it's a good few years ago now. Anyway if anybody has any pointers (or even better a screenshot) of what it could be, please reply.

The only other possible hint I have to go off (from an old email) was that we referred to ump1.zip but I'm not sure if that actually contained the map or not.

Thanks guys!

Thanks guys! I've had a look at all of those but none of them yet are the one I used to play on :(
Looks like the ump1 lead was a dud too as it's none of those maps.

Any more leads please?

The towers are large like in Facer2d, but there was a lot of ground and a lot going on in between. Also there was no space theme as such, it was just that if you went over the edge you went into nothingness.

I'll check out lvlworld myself too, and I'll post back if I find what I'm looking for.

Well it didn't take very long thanks to you guys posting a link to lvlworld - I found it! :olo:

It's called The Vast and Furious: http://lvlworld.com/#c=m8&i=1279
Somebody also did an "improved" version a couple of years later: http://lvlworld.com/#c=m8&i=1807

Anyway I recommend it greatly as a fun CTF map. Cheers! :q3:
