At the end of the day... well, alright. That was pretty funny.

Re: At the end of the day
damn, do brits say that a lot or just those people?
Re: At the end of the day
all brits love a good cliche, but chavs use them in a special way.CaseDogg wrote:damn, do brits say that a lot or just those people?
for chavs, "at the end of the day" can mean "i'm ignoring what you said", "i understand but disagree with what you said", "i didn't listen to what you said" or "i heard and understood what you said but now i'm going to repeat it anyway because i like the sound of my own voice".
the actual meaning can be derived from tone of voice or from the pause between saying "at the end of the day" and the first wretched splatters of whatever verbal arsewater follows it. "at the end of the day" is largely interchangeable with "to be fair".

This radio presenter this morning hates it when callers say 'at the end of the day' or even worse 'well basically'. 3 strikes and they're out, and he did cut off a few of them

Re: At the end of the day
just been reminded of something that annoys me even more than chavs; spoiled pigs. it's gone 1 in the morning and they're out for the second night in a row 'buzzing' (hovering a helicopter over your house with a spotlight trained on the front windows) some smack dealer 2 streets away.
in the olden days this was special treatment and it was sort of civil. i remember being quite impressed by whichever top gun it was that interrupted an otherwise pleasant evening of homebrew chemistry and temporarily blinded/deafened us all by hovering at the end of the driveway. that chopper had come all the way from birmingham, and at least they had the decency to do it before 10pm when all the people who worked for a living were still up and about. it's the same on the roads. if the car in front of you is a black or blue optioned-up sports saloon and someone's driving it like a total cunt, they're probably a traffic cop.
