Los Angeles
Anyone got any tips for ways to pass a few days in LA? Non-touristBS appreciated.
I'm currently shacked up at a hotel outside LAX until next Monday when I'm flying out to NZ.
INSIDER SCOOP PLZ.

Re: Los Angeles
lulz. it's always shit finding things to do in a strange place. i hate the whole airport > taxi > hotel thing. it's so much better when you've been before and know someone to take you out.
still, i normally try and find a bar, except for SA because you could die.

Re: Los Angeles
the getty museum is nice to meander through alone... but that may fall under touristy (your loss... it's a pretty cool museum). you could walk around santa monica and venice beach... lots of strange ppl there to observe for amusement. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD YOU EVER GO INLAND.
Re: Los Angeles
venice beach and the santa monica boardwalk I guess are a must see if you ever find your self in LA.
edit:
oh already recommended I see... I guess I second that!

Re: Los Angeles
if you have a rental car, drive 3-4 hours to vegas. it's worth it.

SD is king, but LA has its moments

This about sums up fun stuff to do in LA for a short stay.mjrpes wrote:the getty museum is nice to meander through alone... but that may fall under touristy (your loss... it's a pretty cool museum). you could walk around santa monica and venice beach... lots of strange ppl there to observe for amusement. There is also the Getty Villa which is moderately cool to visit in Malibu (this allows you to also grab some lunch at one of the many ocean side restaurants on PCH).
If you have a car you can go ride some shitty snow at Mt. High or Big Bear this time of the year, go to San Diego (it really has much more fun shit to do than LA), or perhaps go to Santa Barbara (go skydiving or perhaps sit back and watch some whales, lol).
Re: Los Angeles
Been out to Venice today, dig the canals. Property prices there must fucking suck so much.
Think I'll head out towards hollywood tomorrow or possibly over to the Getty Museum.
Haven't got a rental, or been catching taxis, or even booked onto any tour buses. Been trying to figure out the regular bus transit system... bit of a headfuck. But I'm at the Sheraton which is right next to LAX City Bus Station... pretty easy links out if you don't mind enduring the tramp-piss atmosphere for 20 mins.
Can't do Las Vegas guys, thanks for the suggestion though. Avis want to buttfuck me if I take a rental that far inland...

Re: Los Angeles
Old Pasadena >>> City Walk (a mall)
Re: Los Angeles
That said, City Walk does have that Karl Strauss brew pub...
