Word 2003 anyone?

When I select a bit of text and press delete it nothing happens.

When I select text and type something else to replace the text it just writes it next to what I already have.

WTF?

You're in reviewer mode which will prevent you making changes to existing content.

Buggered if I can remember how to turn it off but it'll be on one of the top menus somewhere.

Alternatively the document could be protected... try a new document and see if the problem persists.

check your scroll, num and caps locks and insert key, then if all else fails, reboot.

Ah yes,
Tools > Options > Edit > check "Typing replaces
selection".
