Editing shaderlist.txt shows no effects. *SOLVED*

Post by Pat Howard »

I'm running Radiant 1.4.0 on Vista Home 32 and I for some reason my edits in shaderlist.txt are not effecting anything - almost like it's write protected or something. GTK just parses the default shaders even though it claims to be reading the shaderlist.txt in baseq3/scripts where I'm editing things.

I tried reinstalling GTK but that didn't help. I even tried adding the exact same shader (hip_stormy) onto two other computers, one with Vista and one with XP, and both worked. Anyone have any idea what could be wrong with this computer? I'm running out of ideas.

p.s. If you need more system info let me know.

Are the paths to the Quake3 folder the same on all three computers?

Yeah, simply C:\Program Files\Quake III Arena\baseq3

Try moving it to a completely different folder and see what happens. My guess is that you have a pk3 in there with another shaderlist.txt (although I thought the loose file would take precedence...can't remember for sure though).

If it still loads after you've moved it, you know there's custom content somewhere that needs to be cleaned up...

It's always nice to have a pure Q3 folder around when you encounter errors like this.
Q3Map2 2516 -> http://www.zfight.com/misc/files/q3/q3map_2.5.16_win32_x86.zip
Q3Map2 FS_20g -> http://www.zfight.com/misc/files/q3/q3map2_fs_20g.rar
GtkRadiant 140 -> http://www.zfight.com/misc/files/q3/GtkRadiantSetup-1.4.0-Q3RTCWET.exe

Found the problem. It actually had to do with my user project files from GTK. I deleted them, GTK made new default ones and my shaders worked. Weird, right?

Thanks for the replies!
