If everybody had plained's attitude, nothing would get done. Flight? Stupid idea. The wheel? Fuck that.

this is actually ones of those ideas that looks silly at a glance but I'm sure it does wonders for climbers ...should allow them to have a better feel of what they step to if nothing more.

ps
would probably cause smelly feet too :tard:

lol u guys rock!

i would be worried i'd break my toes in those things because the toes are so vulnerable and "out there"

plus the added leverage on them from imbiggining the toe

plus the blister potential yiee !

Actually it makes a lot of sense, toes help for balance stuff, not like they're attached to the foot purely for esthetic reasons.... but yeah it looks a bit ridiculous to me.

you cant understand the concept of extra balance afforded by free moving toes in these shoes?

when i was in japan, all the riggers bought steel toe capped versions of these:

They were a godsend for them when compared to normal clunky steel toe capped boots when clambering around on scaffolding. They had to get special socks too ey?

wow phanta those are wild ey theyre look like hooves!

they are quite different tho the toes are still protected but they have the big toe seperate advantage

Puff yea i guess thats true , but they grip the inside of a normal shoe , mine do anyways

still tho i feel i would bust my toes off climbing or running/sporting in those

My friend has a pair of those 5 toed shoes. He wore them working out, said they improve balance and what not. I thought they were pretty funky.

You should read Born to Run by Chris McDougal if you get a chance, Plained. Your idea of footwear might be turned on it's head.

In the book, he examines a tribe of Tarahumara Indians who still exist in Mexico and run for up to 48 hours at a crack, over craggy mountain ranges, wearing, basically, leather flip flops. The foot, knee, and hip injury rate in this hidden tribe is nonexistent.

In a cool twist, he outlines how a white dude somehow convinced the reclusive and private Indians (who are impressed by neither fame nor fortune) to race in the Leadville 100 mountain trail ultra marathon. They kicked some serious ass, from all accounts. Oh, here's one now: http://www.ultrunr.com/led-95.html

Anyone else have a lifelong goal to run one of these? Aim high, right? :shy:

Wow, what?--oh, wait, I see what you did there. OK, I'll play your reindeer games :) Plainerd. The same jump in logic I made from 5-toed shoe to the leather sandal used by a tribe of running-cultured Indians might also be shared here by you, and yet we can still generally revolve around a theme of strange things to put on your feet. I simply interjected with an idea: might these odd shitkickers not be the worst thing you can put on your feet? Yes, they're ugly as fuck and no, i don't think I'd wear them to the next business meeting I'm wallflowering at. But they still might be amazing when it comes to increasing running strength and reducing injury.
