BioShock 2

Post by U4EA »

Holy crap, I had no idea it was this close to release. As expected, it's getting good reviews so far. This should be fun

Purchased it last night from Steam with BS1 for free... But I'm a little pissed. It wont release until 10pm on the day of release for UKers, and you also can't preload in advance, so in other words... Yeah, looks like I'll play in Wednesday, maybe... :(

Alan Wake been given a date yet...? I'm really so-so about it, its got the feeling it could be an amazing game but also a stinker... And I hope its amazing, it certainly could pull it off :(

Well no actual date yet as far as I know. I've read Q2 of this year but I'm not sure if that's confirmed. From what I've seen from it, they really set the Stephen King-ish horror mood very well. I think it looks awesome. I hope they can keep that up for an entire game.

They actually moved the time for the Steam release to 8am, but as expected, the steam servers are so hammered that its not even loading the store page/forums and even though the store says unlocked, its still displaying "bioshock 2 pre order" on the main list.

So, meh, looks like another awesome stam launch...

EDIT: Actually, I have this feeling the release was moved to 9am so that it would limit stress on the servers move. People start work at 9am... Fuckers... I'll have to pop back on lunch or something... Why isn't there a handy option to leave Steam open and DL games as soon as they appear, rather than needing clickage :@

EDIT: Well I'll be a monkies tampon... Half an hour late, but its downloading at 2.8meg/second... Not bad. I give it 10mins before everybody catches on you need to retstart Steam, and then boom... 100kb/sec.

I still haven't played the original, so I'm going to rent that one and play through it before I pick up 2.

On an almost-related, note I went to Blockbuster Friday night and decided to rent a game. It was down to Bioshock or Ninja Gaiden 2.

I went with Ninja Gaiden 2. What a terrible disappointment that game was. I should have looked for some reviews first or something. It's a tragic combination of bad camera control and button-mashing. I played it for about 30-45 minutes Friday night and haven't put it back in since.

I'll be picking up Bioshock next time. Heck, maybe I'll just buy it instead. It can't be that expensive these days, right?

Missed out chap. Steam were selling Bioshock 2 for the last few weeks at £26.99 with Bioshock 1 for free. :(

I thought you worked in Birmingham and lived in Telford? How could you possibly 'pop' back at lunch with the lunch time traffic on the M6/M54?

had some problems running this on the pc at first as it is crazy buggy it seems.... but i got it sorted now and enjoying being back in rapture.

BUT

widescreen still isn't supported properly (its 4:3, cropped) and the mouse accel is still fucked... these were issues that plagued the original game and 2k got a lot of flak for it. i can't believe they've done exactly the same thing again.... just lazy and ignorant.

I doubt my PC will play both of them well enough. I'm trying it on 360.

I don't work in Birmingham.

I don't work at Game. That was 6 odd years back.

I don't live in Woodside. If you even knew what Woodside was like, you would understand why.

Keep crying, its funny watching you go in circles.

you said you worked in birmingham at a games developers, well you didn't directly say that but you tried very hard to give that impression.

so you're saying you live and work in telford. unlucky, well not unlucky really as you live to your means.

yeah, the sequel probably has worse graphics than the original, if you can believe it.

saved by some next level art direction though!

ME2 kicks serious amounts of arse. Even though I've clocked all of the achievements on it now, I'm still playing it to give myself a wide array of characters for ME3.
It's probably my favourite Bioware game yet, even over the Baldur's Gate games.

It's also the most "Deus Ex"-like game I've played in a loooooong time.

Mat Linnett is factually correct.

I am about to finish my 2nd playthrough, the Infiltrator is pure class by the way.

3rd playthrough will be as a Vanguard.
